Pakora Recipe:

Pakora Ingredients:

  • 1 Cup gram flour (besan)
  • 1 Medium-sized onion, thinly sliced
  • 1 Cup vegetables (e.g., spinach leaves, potato slices, cauliflower florets)
  • 1 Teaspoon red chili powder
  • 1/2 Teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 1 Teaspoon coriander powder
  • Salt to taste
  • Water (enough to make a thick batter)
  • Oil for frying

Pakora Masala Ingredients:

  • 1 teaspoon cumin powder
  • 1 teaspoon coriander powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon garam masala
  • 1/2 teaspoon chaat masala
  • 1/4 teaspoon black salt
  • A pinch of asafoetida (hing)

Instructions:

  • Prepare the Pakora Batter:
    • In a mixing bowl, combine gram flour, red chili powder, turmeric powder, coriander powder, and salt.
    • Gradually add water while stirring to form a thick batter. Ensure there are no lumps.
    • Add sliced onions and other vegetables to the batter, ensuring they are well coated.
  • Frying the Pakoras:
    • Heat oil in a deep pan or fryer.
    • Drop spoonfuls of the batter into the hot oil and fry until they turn golden brown and crispy.
    • Remove the pakoras and place them on a paper towel to absorb excess oil.
  • Prepare the Pakora Masala:
    • In a small bowl, mix cumin powder, coriander powder, garam masala, chaat masala, black salt, and a pinch of asafoetida.
  • Serve:
    • Sprinkle the prepared pakora masala over the hot pakoras just before serving.
