Here's a basic recipe for making Dahi Bhalla using Roopak's Dahi Bhalla masala:
Ingredients:
- 1 Cup urad dal (split black gram)
- Salt, to taste
- 1 Tsp Roopak's Dahi Bhalla masala
- 2 Cups yogurt (curd)
- 1 Tsp roasted cumin powder
- 1 Tsp red chili powder
- Tamarind chutney (optional)
- Mint chutney (optional)
- Sev (optional)
- Chopped coriander leaves, for garnish
Instructions:
- Wash and soak the urad dal in water for about 4-5 hours or overnight.
- Drain the water from the soaked dal and grind it to a smooth paste using very little water. The batter should be thick.
- Add salt to the batter and mix well.
- Heat oil in a deep frying pan or kadhai. Wet your hands and take a small portion of the batter, shape it into a small round ball, and gently drop it into the hot oil.
- Fry the bhallas on medium heat until they turn golden brown and crispy.
- Once fried, remove the bhallas from the oil and soak them in lukewarm water for about 10-15 minutes.
- Squeeze out the excess water from the soaked bhallas by pressing them gently between your palms.
- Beat the yogurt (curd) well until smooth and creamy. Add a pinch of salt, Roopak's Dahi Bhalla masala, and mix well.
- Arrange the squeezed bhallas on a serving plate and pour the beaten yogurt over them.
- Sprinkle roasted cumin powder and red chili powder on top.
- Optionally, drizzle some tamarind chutney and mint chutney over the dahi bhallas.
- Garnish with chopped coriander leaves and sev.
- Serve chilled and enjoy your delicious Dahi Bhalla!
